Last March I payed a flash visit to Antwerp in my trip between Brussels and Amsterdam. I explored the city in one afternoon.
Although famous for its museums and art, I just saw the more emblematics zones and relaxed a little. Nevertheless, I really loved the city, and I am glad I made a stop there.
If you arrive in the central station and plan to have a short visit, you can make your itinerary following my footsteps.
Em março passado fiz uma paragem em Antuérpia, na viagem entre Bruxelas e Amesterdão. Foi uma visita relâmpago, onde só explorei a cidade numa tarde.
Apesar de ser famosa pelos seus museus e pela arte, só tive oportunidade para ver as zonas mais emblemática e relaxar um pouco. No entanto, valeu a pena a visita.
Se planeia chegar na estação central e tem poucas horas para descobrir Antuérpia, poderá fazer o seu itinerário seguindo os passos abaixo.

1. CENTRAL STATION

Leopold II, in 1905, had this unusual rail station built as a neo-Baroque monument. Many consider it to be on the top 10  most beautiful train stations in the world.
A estação central foi mandada construída em 1905 por Leopold II, é um exemplo de um monumento neo-barroco. É colocada no ranking das 10 estações mais bonitas do mundo.

2. MEIR

If you are a shopper, this is your comfort zone.
Se é apreciador de  ir às compras, esta é  sua zona de conforto.

3. GROENPLAATS

One of the most popular square is the Groenplaats, also known as the Green Square. In the middle of the Groenplaats we can see a statue of Rubens.
If you enjoy a good beer, you can delight yourself in one of the numerous bars terraces. In some of them world famous artists spent their time before putting their hands back to work.
Uma das praça mais populares é a Groenplaats, também conhecida como a Praça Verde. No meio da Groenplaats podemos ver uma estátua de Rubens.
Se gosta de uma boa cerveja, pode deliciar-se numa das inúmeras esplanadas dos bares da praça. Alguns bares são reconhecidos pelos famosos artistas que os frequentavam.

4. CATHEDRAL OF OUR LADY

This beautiful gothic cathedral is an icon of Antwerp, and her watch tower has a height of 120 meters.
A Catedral de Nossa Senhora é um ícone de Antuérpia, e a sua torre do relógio tem uma altura de 120 metros.

4. GROTE MARKT

Located in the heart of the old city, here we can find the City Hall, the so-called houses of the Guilds or corporations, the Brabo fountain (statue created by Jef Lambeaux about a city legend) and a view of the gorgeous cathedral of our lady.
Situada no coração da cidade velha, aqui podemos encontrar a Câmara, associações, a fonte Brabo (estátua criada por Jef Lambeaux, sobre uma lenda da cidade) e visionar a magnífica torre da catedral de nossa senhora.

6. STEEN 

Steen Castle is Antwerp’s oldest building, situated along the river Scheldt. This castle was built in the medieval period as a fortress to keep the Vikings out of the city.
O castelo Steen é o edifício mais antigo de Antuérpia e está situado ao lado do rio Scheldt. Este castelo foi construído no período medieval como uma fortaleza para impedir a entrada dos Vikings na cidade.

7. ST. PAUL’S CHURCH 

This is a gothic and barroco church. Its interior decoration is a proper example of the flemish baroque style in painting, as well as church furniture. It also has an impressive art collection, featuring, among others, paintings by Rubens and Van Dyck.
A Igreja S. Paul é um exemplo da arquitectura gótica e barroca. A sua decoração interior, por sua vez, é do estilo barroco flamengo, visível tanto na pintura como no mobiliário da igreja. Possui uma impressionante coleção de arte de pintores famosos como Rubens e Van Dyck.
