CIES ISLAND (Galicia, Spain)

This month I had a wonderful experience close to my hometown. For many years I have lived close to it, but at one point I did not knew, and even when I did I did not have the drive to explore it. I went to Cies island.
Cies is an archipelago off the coast of Pontevedra in Galicia (Spain), in the mouth of the Ría de Vigo.
Rodas Beach, located in one of the Cies Island, was considered by ”The Guardian” newspaper to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

First thing first, how do you get there?

By boat from Vigo or Bayona.

Where do you get the tickets?

You can buy them online and collect them at the port to ensure a place at the best times, since in the summer they can get a bit too crowded. We went through this company: mardeons.

Outside the summer season you can buy them a lot cheaper than in august.

What to expect?

A crystal clear, clean and cold atlantic water, and a peaceful place. Beeing a natural reserve, you can watch for birds and for fishes (snorkeling).
I was not impressed by the main beach as I was impressed by the smaller ones.
There are some circuits that you can choose for a one day stroll, to admire the beaches and landscapes.
You can also camp there for quite some time.
For eating be aware that there is only one restaurant and a bar, both very expensive, and as such I advise you to bring your own food.

ILHAS CIES (GALIZA, ESPANHA)

Este mês tive uma experiência óptima perto da minha terra natal. Durante muitos anos vivi perto e tive certa curiosidade por explorar as ilhas Cies. Este foi o ano!
Cies é um arquipélago ao largo da costa de Pontevedra, na Galiza, à entrada da Ría de Vigo.
A praia Rodas, localizada numa das ilhas do arquipélago, foi considerada pelo jornal ”The Guardian” como sendo uma das praias mais bonita do mundo.

Como chegar?

De barco, desde Vigo ou Bayona.

Onde comprar os bilhetes?

Poderá comprá-los online (companhia mardeons) e depois recolhe-los no porto, deste modo garantirá a sua ida na hora pretendida. No pico do verão este passeio é bastante requisitado.

Tenha atenção que os bilhetes fora da época de verão são mais baratos (um de setembro já é época baixa :)).

O que esperar?

Uma água límpida, transparente gelada e um lugar tranquilo. Sendo um espaço protegido, poderá observar os pássaros e ver os peixes (faça mergulho).
Não fiquei impressionada com a praia principal, mas sim com algumas mais pequenas.
Existem alguns circuitos giros para se fazer algumas caminhadas e admirar a paisagem.
Também poderá acampar.
Para comer, tenha atenção que só existe um bar e um restaurante, ambos algo caros, por isso aconselho que leve a comida.
