Note: This journey occured in October, and unfortunately this post comes in a time when Berlin is under a cloud of sadness. Peace to the victims’ souls. Stay strong and free, Berlin.
1 – MUSEUM ISLAND
Berlin has an island at the Spree river called Museum Island. Here, you can find some great museums. Just pick one of your choice and spend some pleasant time there.
We visited the Pergamon Museum: the museum is subdivided into the antiquity collection, the Middle East museum, and the museum of Islamic art. Among the collection it is the Pergamon Altar and the Ishtar gate. Definitely worth visiting!
And we also visited the Neues Museum, whose exhibition includes the Egyptian, Prehistory, and Early History collections. The artifacts it houses include the iconic bust of the Egyptian queen Nefertiti.
One of Berlin’s most iconic buildings is located at the museum island. It’s the biggest protestant cathedral of Berlin – the Berliner Dom. You can enter and visit it, but you have to pay a fee. We chose the other option, and took some pictures outside.
2 – TV TOWER & ALEXANDERPLATZ
At Alexanderplatz you can enjoy your time shopping and taking the opportunity to see the Fernsehturm(Television Tower). The tower was constructed between 1965-1969. With 368 meters it is the tallest structure in Germany. Inside there is a restaurant where you can have a meal with a landscape.
3 – EAST SIDE GALLERY
A memorial of freedom! It is a 1316 meters long section of Berliner Mauer (Berlin wall). The Gallery has 105 paintings made in 1990 from artists from all over the world.
4 – BERLINER MAUER MEMORIAL
It is an open-air exhibition which explains the history of the division. Consists of the monuments in memory of the divided city and of the victims of communist tyranny, as well as the window of remembrance. It also includes the chapel of reconciliation and the excavated foundations of a former building whose façade functioned as border wall until the early eighties.

1 – ILHA MUSEUS
Berlim contém uma ilha no rio Spree chamada de Ilha dos Museus, como o próprio nome indica é uma ilha com fantásticos museus. Escolha um de acordo com a sua preferência e passe algum tempo de qualidade lá.
Optamos pelo Museu Pergamon: um museu de coleções antiguas, do Meio-Oriente e com tesouros da Arte Islâmica. Entre as coleções destaca-se o Altar de Pergamon e a Porta Ishtar.
E também visitámos o Museu Neues, onde pudemos apreciar artefactos da Pré-história e da era Egípcia. Neste museu poderá encontrar o ícônico busto da Rainha Egípcia Nefertiti.
Nesta Ilha de Museus encontrará a grande catedral protestante de Berlim – Berliner Dom. Poderá visitá-la por um custo ou se preferir fique-se pelo exterior e tire algumas fotografias.
2 – TORRE DA TV & ALEXANDERPLATZ
Na praça Alexanderplatz poderá tirar partido dos shoppings e visitar Fernsehturm (Torre da Televisão). A torre construída entre 1965-1969, com 368 metros é a estrutura mais alta da Alemanha. Dentro existe um restaurante onde se degusta pratos com uma soberba vista.

Um memorial da Liberdade! Com 1316 metros de comprimento é uma secção do Berliner Mauer (Muro de Berlim). A galeria apresenta 105 pinturas feitas em 1990 por artístas de todo o mundo.
4 – MEMORIAL BERLINER MAUER
É uma exibição ao ar livre onde se explica a história da divisão da cidade. Consiste em um monumento em memória da cidade dividida; e das víctimas do comunismo, bem como um espaço onde estas possam ser lembradas. Inclui, igualmente, uma capela de reconciliação e as fundações de um edifício que outrora funcionava como limite.
