After my 1st and 2nd post about “What to do/see in Berlin”, I’m glad to show you the last episode of this serie. 🙂
Depois do meu 1º e 2º post sobre “O que fazer/ver em Berlim”, hoje partilho o último episódio desta série. 🙂
1 – POSTDAMER PLATZ & SONY CENTER
Postdamer Platz is an important and modern square of Berlin and owns a segment of Berlin Wall. Close by, you will find the sponsered mall – Sony Center – full of shops, restaurants, IMAX cinema and so on. It hosts international movies Premieres and if you are lucky you could meet a Hollywood actor.
Postdamer Platz é uma importante e moderna praça de Berlim. Lá poderá, ainda, encontrar um segmento do Muro de Berlim.
Ao lado localiza-se o centro comercial patrocinado pela Sony – Sony Center – repleto de lojas, restaurantes, cinema IMAX, etc. É casa de algumas Premieres de filmes internacionais; se tiver sorte poderá ver atores de Hollywood.
2 – TOPOGRAPHIE DES TERRORS
From all the historic places I visited in Berlin, this one had the heaviest aura and made me feel a little uncomfortable. In this museum you will see a lot of shocking pictures with its historic explanation and a large part of the Berlin Wall without any artistic painting.
Topografia de Terror é um museu histórico, ao ar livre e coberto, situado no antigo quartel general da Gestapo e da SS.
De todos os lugares históricos que visitei em Berlim, este foi aquele que senti uma aura pesada. Neste espaço verá fotos chocantes com a sua explicação histórica e um grande troço do Muro de Berlim sem quaisquer pinturas artísticas.

3 – CHECK POINT CHARLIE
Checkpoint Charlie was the name given by the Western Allies to the best-known Berlin Wall crossing point between East Berlin and West Berlin during the Cold War.Today is just a tourist place. Costumes dressed as guards will be there to take some pictures with you, but don’t forget your wallet, because you will have to pay a fee if you want a picture with them. 🙂
Checkpoint Charlie foi o nome dado pelos Aliados Ocidentais ao ponto de passagem do Muro de Berlim, mais conhecido, entre Berlim Este e Oeste durante a Guerra Fria.
Hoje em dia, é apenas um local turístico. Figurantes vestem-se como guardas e estão dispostos a tirar fotografias com os turístas em troca de alguns euros. 🙂
4 – KAISER WILHELM MEMORIAL CHURCH
The original Protestant church was built in the 90s. It was damaged in a bombing raid in 1943.
Nowadays, the building consists of a church with an attached foyer and a separate belfry with an attached chapel.
The damaged spire has been retained as a memorial, to remind Berliners of their past. Its ground floor has been made into a memorial hall.
A igreja protestante original foi construída nos anos 90. Foi danificada com uma bomba em 1943.
Hoje em dia, o edifício consiste numa igreja com um vestíbulo anexado e um campanário separado com uma capela anexada.
O pináculo danificado foi mantido como memorial, de modo a lembrar os Berlinenses do seu passado. No seu andar térreo foi feito um salão memorial.
5 – TIERGARTEN GARDEN. VICTORY COLUMN. (ZOO).
Don’t miss the big garden, Tiergarten. Go to the zoo, if you would like.
Passed by the Victory Column monument, in the Tiergarten. Made to commemorate the Prussian victory in the Danish-Prussian War, and it was inaugurated on 2 September 1873.
Não perca o grande jardim, Tiergarten. Vá ao zoo, se fizer questão.
Passe pela Coluna da Vitória, no Tiergarten. Feita para comemorar a vitória prussiana na Guerra Dinamarquesa-Prussiana, e inaugurada a 2 de setembro de 1873.
