Carina Travel And Food

Last March, I celebrated my 3rd wedding anniversary (2nd w. anniversary here; 1st w. anniversary here; wedding post over here) in the South of Spain. We spent a total of 2 days (and 2 nights).
We had plenty of luck with the weather. On mid-march, it was warm with temperatures peaking around 30º Celsius. It was the perfect condition to travel. We embodied the spanish tradition and enjoyed some “siestas” closeby the hotel swimming pool…

No passado mês de março, para festejar o meu aniversário de casamento (2º aniversário aqui, 1º aniversário aqui e o post sobre o casamento aqui), eu e o meu marido rumamos ao sul de Espanha por 2 dias (2 noites).
O tempo estava fantástico (30ºC), o que nos permitiu gozar da piscina do hotel e fazer algumas “siestas”.

TRANSPORTATION

Ryanair flies to Seville. You can easily find bargain tickets.
From/to the airport, there are some buses marked by a “Line EA” that make the route to the railway station. The bus stop at the airport is outside the main terminal; in Seville the stop is located in Plaza de Armas. The journey takes around 40 minutes and the price is 4 euros. You buy the ticket in the bus.

TRANSPORTE

Ryanair voa para Sevilha. É possível comprar bilhetes bastante económicos.
De/para o aeroporto existem autocarros (Linha EA). A paragem do autocarro no aeroporto fica fora do terminal principal; em Sevilha a paragem está localizada na Plaza de Armas. A viagem demora cerca de 40 minutos e custa 4 euros. O bilhete adquire-se no autocarro.

HOTEL

The majority of Sevilla hotels open their pools between April and May. I looked for a hotel with an open pool on mid-march. In case of doubts, send an email to the hotel to confirm the open days/hours of the pool. 😉
We stayed at Hotel Bécquer, and opted for the breakfast included. It is well located, a quick walk away from the bus station (Plaza de Armas), and less than 10 minutes away on foot from the center and the main attractions.

A maioria das piscinas dos hotéis de Sevilla abrem entre abril e maio. A minha escolha recaiu num hotel com piscina aberta desde meados de março. Em caso de dúvidas, envie um e-mail para o hotel para confirmar se a piscina estará aberta nos dias em que estiver lá. 😉
Ficamos no Hotel Bécquer com pequeno-almoço incluído. Encontra-se bem localizado, perto da estação de autocarros (Plaza de Armas), e a menos de 10 minutos a pé do centro e das atrações principais.
Também encontrei algumas vilas bonitas e históricas no site airbnb. Verifique as ofertas no site e use este link para ter um desconto de 41€.

Real Alcázar of Seville

If you are a fan of Games of Thrones, I am sure you will recognize this place. 🙂 They shot some scenes for the 5th season, for the Water Gardens in the fictional city of Sunspear, seat of the House Martell and capital of Dorne.
The Real Alcázar is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is one of the best examples of Mudéjar architecture (Moorish style). The upper chambers of the Alcázar are still used by the Spanish royal family as their official residence in Seville.
Schedule your visit here in order to skip the lines. Get in on the early hours of the day: a few hours after opening it gets a bit crowded.

Se é fã de Games of Thrones, reconhecerá este lugar. 🙂 Foi usado na 5ª temporada de GOT, para os Jardins da Água na cidade fictícia de Sunspear, sede da Casa Martell e capital de Dorne.
O Real Alcázar é Património Mundial da UNESCO. É um dos melhores exemplos da arquitetura Mudéjar (estilo Mourisco). As câmaras superiores do Alcázar continuam a ser usadas pela família real espanhola como sua residência oficial em Sevilha.
Agende a sua visita aqui para evitar filas. Esteja lá na primeira hora de abertura, para ser o primeiro a entrar.

Santa Cruz is the heart of the city. It is a beautiful neighborhood that was the jewish quarter in the past.

Seville Cathedral

It is the most popular landmark in Seville. Since 1987 it has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. It was initially built as a mosque by the moors who conquered Spain and has been increased throughout the times. The cathedral was subject to a number of refurbishments and extensions, each marking the style of its time: Renaissance, Baroque, Neo-gothic, and more. Today is a Roman Catholic place of worship and the largest cathedral in the world.

É o marco mais popular de Sevilha. Desde 1987, foi declarado Património da Humanidade pela UNESCO. Foi construído como uma mesquita pelos mouros que conquistaram a Espanha. E ao longo dos tempos, a catedral tem sido objecto de uma série de remodelações e extensões, cada uma marcando o estilo da época: renascentista, barroco, neogótico e muito mais. Hoje é um local de culto católico romano e a maior catedral do mundo.

Flamenco

No visit to Seville is completed without a flamenco show. There are some places where you can have a dinner and watch a show, and others where you just see the flamenco. We opted to only watch the show at “La Casa del Flamenco”, and made sure to buy the tickets in advance.

Nenhuma visita a Sevilha fica completa sem um show de flameco. Existem vários espaços onde é pode jantar acompanhado de um espectáculo, e outros onde só vê o espectáculo. Nós optamos por ver o espectáculo na “La Casa del Flamenco”. E compramos os bilhetes online e com antecedência.

Plaza de España (Spain Square)

Located in the María Luisa Park, the Plaza de España or “Spain Square” in English, is one of the landmarks of Seville. It was built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition. Its architecture is a mix of neo-renaissance and neo-mudéjar styles.
Many international films have been shot at Plaza de España, among them the Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002).
It’s free to visit and it is 24 hours open.

Plaza de España (Praça de Espanha)

Localizada no Parque María Luisa, a Plaza de España ou a Praça de Espanha em Português, é um marco de Sevilha. Foi construído em 1928 para a Exposição Ibero-Americana. A sua arquitetura é uma mistura de estilos neo-renascentistas e neo-mudéjar.
Muitos filmes internacionais foram filmados na Plaza de España, entre eles o filme Star Wars: Episódio II – Ataque dos Clones (2002).
É grátis e está aberto 24 horas.

Metropol Parasol

Metropol Parasol, also known as Las Setas de la Encarnación (Mushroom of Encarnación) is a wooden structure designed by the German architect Jürgen Mayer. It has dimensions of 150 by 70 metres and an approximate height of 26 metres. It claims to be the largest wooden structure in the world.
